BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

Adorned by the majestic mountain range of the Wilden Kaiser, the Kitzbühler Horn and the Hahnenkamms, Kitzbühel is one of the most desirable Winter sport destinations in Austria. The ski slopes and ski lifts that are shared among the surrounding towns of Kirchberg, Jochberg, and Pass Thurn reveal that Kitzbühel is one of the largest contiguous Ski Regions in Austria. In order to meet the demands of high quality tourism, large-scaled events such as the Hahnenkamm Races, and the mobility needs of the local population, important parameters were defined for the modernization of the Kitzbühel Train Station, resulting in a contemporary international transport nodal point. In various phases of construction, the existing station at kitzbühel will be transformed into a modern railway bus station, with facilities for bike&ride, park&ride. The renovation and addition to the existing station building with new tracks and platforms have been recently completed for the modernization to the train Station. The new design to the square in front of the train station will include a bus station island, with accommodations for several bus lines (parking for 8 buses). The bus station island will also be architecturally designed with landscape features, covered seating and waiting areas, architectural lighting and information/signage systems. Barrier-Free accessibility to and from all areas of the station are included in the planning.
